Venita (10 December 2006):
Also on the table is a question about the parameters of the Worldspace. I have a vague sense that in general the women of this group want to open the group up and embrace/nurture and collaborate with as much of the energy out there as possible and that in general the men are focused on function, containment and boundaries. I'm wondering if we can do the Genpo Roshi thing and hold infinite resonance on one side and deliberate focus on the other side (if those terms capture the polarity) and then transcend and include them both, holding them in/as awareness and embodying both in our consciousness so that instead of polarizing against each other, we can do both well. So we must define ourselves. Who are we supporting and including?:
1) "Integral" Leaders in general - we must define this
2) Integral (wilber-identified) Leaders in general
3) Only Integral Salon Leaders - we must define this
[... then later that day ...]
It seems like Lynne, Joanne, Barbara, and myself (not sure about Robin or Tim or others) want a more inclusive worldspace for integral leaders in general. So far Gary, is the one leaning strongly for salon leaders only. Can others weigh in on this? Should we schedule a con-call to discuss this?
Again to summarize my point of view, i think the word salon is not inclusive enough. What i am seeing is that there are many individuals and various groups around the world who are integrally informed leaders who would like to link up with others to get the reinforcement and reflection they need to begin or continue developing integral community in their locale. Again, for example, Helen in Brussels has lamented about the lack of integral community there, yet she is a strong on-line integral leader. Yene in Addi Abbas is leading the Integral Africa initiative. Pongsathorn in Bangkok doesn't have an integral salon, but he is working on his PhD, has studied with Robert Kegan, has a fairly popular blog, is part of a study group and has attended I-I events. A new friend in Atlanta, as i mentioned contacted me and asked how to start a salon. The person i just contacted in Tokyo has an ilp group. These are the kinds of people i'd like us to link up with and support if they are interested.
Here's what I disagree with, and I think it's only because you don't see what I'm saying, yet: I am not saying limit the worldspace group to salons only. Leaders like Helen can only benefit if we mentor them into developing community, which is what I see as should be our primary goal. Not only can we mentor existing salons, but we can provide assistance in helping others develop new communities, learning from our experiences. I am saying let's get the structures in place for us, and the second group, before we move ahead with implementing a second group, lest we get overwhelmed.

the alternative would be to make membership to Integral Worldspace as open and as flexible as possible and to invite salon leaders worldwide to join this group -- (i.e as long as they have demonstrated a desire and willingness to serve in a leadership capacity).
As mentioned before, we may be mentoring newbie salon facilitators within Integral Worldspace so this would mean that participants won't necessarily have to have a proven track record - right??
IWS would be open to anyone, upon approval of the moderator. Rejections would only happen by placing the reasoned objection before the SLC (there are plenty of list trouble-makers out there, as Lynne will attest). Removal would take place the same way.
